First details released of Red Faction III

360 News | Finally, not much though.
This time last year, THQ revealed that a new Red Faction title was on the way. Six months ago, they did it again without revealing any details, well today in a conference call held by THQ today they've spoken a little bit about the third Red Faction title.

Red Faction III will be coming to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, the title of the game is officially Red Faction III and Volition (the developer's of Saint's Row and its sequel) will be handling development duties for the game. The title is also set for release sometime between March this year and April 2009. If this revealed timeline stays consistent, tune in six months from now for possibly the first images of the game.

Cool? RF 1 was alright, and 2 I never really played. I hope if this is true, they take advantage of their destructible environment system thing (assuming they still use it.

It will be coming out on the PC as well. I remember the destructible house/room level from the first one. Was super fun.

Feh, I remain skeptical until they give us media to proove otherwise. RF2 was balls, why should I think this one wil be any betteR?

Yeah, the first game was quirky, but I didn't think they used Geomod to its fullest in it, the second felt too generic and boring, hopefully this one changes everything and creates a truly destructible environment with an actual storyline that I want to see to the end.

The first RF was epic. Number 2 was a monstrous letdown. the geomod actually decreased in its destructability. large sections instead of seemingly natural chunks. Not using gun models in MP and opting for brightly coloured outlines of the gun.

i enjoyed parts of the second Red Faction, but the game as a whole didn't feel like it was a sequel to the first game. it just felt like another title. (it wouldn't surprise me if it started out with another title, and was changed to cash in of the Red Faction name - like Devil May Cry 2.)

for example i loved the urban warfare parts, especially when combined with the geomod engine. made the whole thing much more exciting. although the imposed limitations scaled that back in many cases.

all in all, i'm glad they didn't write the series off, but i think i'll maintain a "wait and see" sort of enthusiasm for this one.
