Ninja Gaiden Black Xbox Originals not coming to Australia

360 News | Excuse us while we sob a little.

A few days ago we revealed that Black, Ninja Gaiden Black, and Sid Meiers Pirates! will be the three new Xbox Originals titles released next week.

Unfortunately, Microsoft Australia has confirmed that, while Black and Sid Meiers Pirates! will be released on the Xbox Live Originals service on February 12, Australians will miss out on Ninja Gaiden Black, which won't be released on the service at all in Australia.

This doesn't come as much of a surprise, considering the original release of Ninja Gaiden Black for the Xbox didn't officially grace Australian shores either. Unfortunately, it seems that time doesn't heal all (ninja-related) wounds.

Uhhh... I really can't think of any excuse for this. What could their justification possibly be? If anything Australia should be MORE entitled to get it since it never came out here originally.

UPDATE: We've since found out the game won't be released on the service because Ninja Gaiden Black has been banned in Australia.

Edit : This version was rated 15 in the UK, not 18. Allow me to raise my skirt to hide all the impressionable minds from a game not even given the highest rating in the UK. Wow we must be mindless drones here.

I rang the oflc, ninja gaiden black has never been submitted for classification, as such it is not actually banned. They only know of ninja gaiden and ninja gaiden sigma.

We also sell Ninja Gaiden Black in EB, so just get the disc version. I've also seen it in JB, actually, so this is completely ridiculous.
Not to mention the fact that Sigma and Black are basically the same, and you can definately get Sigma anywhere.
Doesn't really bother me so much tho, as I own Sigma, and think the Originals service is pretty worthless since they offer nothing new over the actual disc copy, which you can pick up pre-owned for about 10 bucks cheaper than what the service charges.
Once again, this is just Aussies and Kiwis getting the short end of MS's gold plated stick.

I heard that Orginal Xbox downloadable games are region locked aswell, so dont bother even trying to download it with a US account.

A perfect opportunity to redeem themselves somewhat for initially withholding this masterpiece, instead we get a fresh bag of dog **** on the porch. Disgusting effort, really.

Oh, and region locking is the devils work - it’s gods way of telling you to mod.

Somehing else just game to mind. Considersing the amount of gore than is in NG 2. I guees we can look forward to it been banned to.

i'm guessing: HD.

otherwise Black has more content than Sigma since it includes an emulation of the NES Ninja Gaiden, and has an additional cinematic at the start.

if neither of these appeal - then Sigma is superior because it's in HD, whereas Black is SD.

It's the 'BEST' verison of Ninja Gaiden.

Pfft, I'd take HD upgrade over the inclusion of an old game anyday. You can get the NES 'NTSC" verison off the VC anyway!

This is bad news.
Ninjas are pretty cool (better than both pirates and vikings combined) so any news like this is dissapointing for ninjas like me

Heh, fair enough, but an opinion doesn’t make it fact.

For starters, Sigma isn’t Black - it’s based off of Black.

They have quite a few subtle differences, where each game caters better to certain tastes. I just don’t think you can label Sigma as the ultimate version of the game just because it’s running in higher res.

The way I see it is that Black is for the hardcore fans, or the gamers who want NG for as cheap as possible. The only reason to buy Sigma would be if you don’t have access to Black, or you simply must have NG-HD. IMO, Black is the highpoint.
