GDC 08: Microsoft announces Xbox Live Arcade award winners

Microsoft has crowned the top Xbox Live Arcade titles at the Game Developers Conference. More than 26,000 people voted for their favourite Xbox Live Arcade game. The finalists in each award category were chosen by a panel of journalists and the winners for the first six categories were determined by popular vote, with the final four categories determined by sales and gameplay data, Metacritic score or staff vote.

Below is a list of winners and the categories the games won in.

Best Overall Arcade Game: Bomberman Live
Best Classic Game: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Best Original Game: Pac-Man: Championship Edition
Best Family-Friendly Game: Pac-Man: Championship Edition
Best Competitive Multiplayer Game: Bomberman Live
Best Cooperative Multiplayer Game: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Best-Selling Game: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Most-Played Game: Worms
Highest-Rated Game: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Xbox Live Arcade Staff Choice: Pac-Man: Championship Edition
