Damnation coming from Codies

360 News | With some, uh, heavy inspiration from Gears of War.
Codemasters has taken the wraps off Damnation, which will be coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Damnation is a shooter at heart, which, if the screenshots are anything to go by, is heavily influenced by Gears of War. And the Wild West, by the look of it. In addition, Codemasters have dubbed the game a 'shooter gone vertical', stemming from the presence of all sorts of elaborate acrobatic stunt work involved on behalf of the player.

Vehicles make an appearance to the surprise of no one, with the two mentioned at this early stage including oversize motorbikes and great big hulking tanks, which will no doubt help in killing all sorts of bad guys.

The apparently 'epic and in-depth story' will focus on Rourke, who we imagine will be the character players control most of the time. Players and humanity face off against an, erm, arms dealer, hell bent on ruling the world and so on.

Oh, did we mention there's going to be a multiplayer mode? Well, there is. We'd bet on co-op play, too.

Developing the game is Blue Omega. This one is currently slated for a release around Christmas time. You can find the first screenshots in the media panel. It looks a bit tasty if you ask us.

Could be good. I see that female gaming characters still seem to prefer to engage in arms fire wearing next to nothing..

I know sex sells and all, but I find it hard to take in the setting of a game on a serious level, where said screenshot features half naked 100% voluptuous girl. It's sort of akin to a crappy b-grade movie in my eyes.

What's everyone else's take on the subject?
