Gears of War 2 'surprise' on UT3 disc

360 News | Mark Rein cryptically explains.
When pressed about Gears Of War 2 in an interview with Official Xbox Magazine, Epic Games' Mark Rein coyly stated "that there might be a little Gears Of War 2 related surprise on the disc of Unreal Tournament 3" on the Xbox 360 version of the game.

Exactly what is this surprise is anyone's guess at the moment, with Rein vehemently refusing to divulge any further information, instead deflecting further questioning with "that's all I'm saying about that".

So will this surprise take the form of a demo, trailer or Gears related cameo in UT3? For now we'll just have to wait and see.

Let the speculation begin...

Playable character models, or a GeoW map tweaked for UT3 would be my guess.

That'd be pretty damned neat, anyway.

my guess is a 3rd person mode inspired from Gears like the ones that fans have been working on.

And like Karai said: Gears skins/models

A early demo of the newest features in Unreal Engine 3 would be awesome.

Maybe its that UT3 guy (Pictured.. i haven't played or know anything about UT3) is related to Marcus Phoenix. Like long lost brothers or something.

Look at the Picture! the resembelence is there!

Sorry but I think the issue here is more that UT3 stole its character style from Gears, and its more what his wearing that makes them looks similar, not so much his physical features.

Probably Marcus Pheonix as a playable character. Or just a poor attempt to try and sell more UT3 units.

I think you'll find UT2K4 was more or less rocking that character style two years before Gears, so if anything it's the other way around. And don't forget they're both developed by Epic, so I don't think there's gonna be any (more) lawsuits for them over the matter. icon_razz.gif

This has certainly made me curious though, and weirdly interested in GoW2 which I previously couldn't care less about... viral advertising ftw.

EDIT: Typo.

So the developers stole assets from themselves? Is that even possible?

No, PS3 fanboys will profess their hatred for Gears too. Even though deep down, they know it's a really great game. Gears was my 2nd favourite game of 2007, after Bioshock. And easily the best co-op experience I've ever had - better than 4 player Halo 3, even.

i loved gears being a PS3 fanboy, after spending hours with it at a mates place, i went out and bought the collectors edition about 6 months before i even owned a 360

EDIT:

seriously! how does UT3 guy not look like marcus fenix?

No I disliked it too. Although probably not hate, just not love. So are you exaggerating or do you actually hate it?
