GRID multiplayer details confirmed

360 News | Enough to get your motor running.
Codemasters has shed some light on the multiplayer features which will be available inside their upcoming racing title Race Driver: GRID, with the game set to include thirty-two online race events across eighty unique circuits spanning fifteen international locations.

Players will be able to partake in online racing - with full car damage - which will handle up to twelve players per session. The game will feature tracks that span across famous racing circuits and iconic city streets in locales such as Europe, the U.S. and Japan.

As well as traditional racing modes, the game is said to include drift racing, demolition derbies and more.

Ralph Fulton, Chief Game Designer of Race Driver: GRID excited spoke of the title, stating: “Our wide range of motor sport disciplines, stunning locations and full damage 12-player races make for a uniquely spectacular race experience and our immersive new ranking system rewards player skill and deepens the challenge online.”

Race Driver: GRID is expected to pull out of the pits this June.

Different games here but Forza 2 handled Aussies and Americans in the same room rather well, not to mention the Europeans as well. Halo is another game that handles it reasonably well too; my point is that it's not as easy as saying "X person from X country will cause it to lag" because it depends on who is hosting, everyone's connections and of course the game's networking code as well.

GRID may have really decent network coding - that's something that won't be known until the game is out though.
