Penny Arcade title to hit XBLA tomorrow

360 News | Tycho and Gabe get ready for their first adventure.
Microsoft has revealed that Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode One, will be this week's lone release on Xbox Live Arcade.

The first episode of this RPG adventure series will lets player team up with the stars of the popular webcomic Tycho and Gabe; as they set off on an adventure in a "deranged 1920s comic-book-meets-pulp-horror universe."

Best of all, the game will let players create their own character who they can then use in the proposed future episodes of the series.

The game will be available for download from tomorrow for a hefty 1600 Microsoft Points.

This isn't a 360 exclusive is it? I've been looking forward to it, but somehow I never thought to check what it was coming out on. I could have sworn it was a PC game.

^It's both - also coming out on Mac as well. You have to get it from Penny Arcade's proprietary online store though (can't remember the link at the moment) if you want it for Mac/PC.

Yeah I thought it was coming out through Steam as well.

hmmm - link ?

Yep, 360 and PC/MAC also. The PC version is about 350mb, so wonder how big the 360 version will be

Want a quick link to where it shows that the game is coming out on both 360/PC, then take a quick look at the PalGN game release dates list and notice the game is listed for both 360 and PC icon_wink.gif

This better have more than 6 achievements I'm telling you now but I doubt it would stop me from buying it as I'm hyping this game.

So being an XBLA title there'll be a free trial download?
I like PA, but I don't generally like turn-based RPGs so I'd rather have a taste before I put down like $27 for a download title.

Ahh another week another game I don't want. As awesome as Penny Arcade is this game reeks of cash in and really turns me off from wanting to get it.

I hear it's a turn based rpg style, is this correct? Would be cool if it was action rpg, might try out the demo if it is.

Next week 1942: Joint Strike....I can feel it in my bones! Can't wait!

I don't think you are a true PA fan to call those boys a cash-in. They are anything but.

I think this games looks awesome, must buy for me.

^ whatever, pretty much everyone cashs in sooner or later, it's just whether or not you get offered the oppotunity.
It would be a cash in if they just put their names on it and released it, but the amount of time and effort they have put into the script and the art for this game makes it safe to say it's no cash in.

Oh so you've played through and finished it already have you?

It hasn't been getting the best reviews so I wonder if they'll bag out their own game, like they do with most mediocre efforts? Sounds to me like the writing is there (humour) but the gameplay isn't.....in other words....should've just stuck to making comics.

No, it's called reading the blogs. Try to use some common sense for once.

Common sense? How about you apply some and actually read some of the reviews instead of just relying on word of mouth from likewise fanboys?
Well they only advertise games on their website that they actually consider good. I find that to be a pretty special approach in today's world considering I'm sure EA is banging on their door everyday turning to get them to advertise Madden or FIFA throwing cash around.

I wan't talking about ads, more-so the object of their humour.

By blogs, I meant the blogs of the creators, not of anyone else.

It's written by the PA writer (every word) and the art is drawn by the PA artist. If you like the PA style of humour you should like the words and art, all that's left is the gameplay. For that you have to try the demo I guess, or just have faith that they wouldn't let a crap game get made in their name, just as they haven't let other crap get made in their name before.

The link for the PC/MAC/Linux version is http://www.playgreenhouse.com/ . I'll probably get the mac one just to see how their online store goes, they want to be an indie portal which is an idea I heartily support (and Steam doesn't run on a mac icon_razz.gif)

^ I don't think Gabe drew any of the art, but it had to all go through him. I remember reading one of his posts saying he felt horrible being so anal of other people drawing his art.

But yes, I can't see them letting a title under their name be crap. The 2 men are utter perfectnist gamers.
