Castle Crashers to get additional content

360 News | Now with added chainsaw.
Via their official blog, Castle Crashers developer Behemoth has confirmed that new content will be making its way into the addictive Xbox Live Arcade title in the near future.

The announcement has finally settled the rumours which came about as video footage of the game's pre-release made its way onto the internet, containing the King and Necromancer as playable characters as well as a chainsaw making an appearance as a playable weapon - neither of which is in the game at the present time. Behemoth has explained how the downloadable content was leaked, stating:

"Prior to releasing any XBLA game to the public, the game must be tested on Microsoft’s internal network. During this time anyone who has a development kit, and test kits can download a game that is still in development. Other developers can see and download the game, test houses can run their tests, and media outlets who have these test kits can also view these unreleased games if they happen to come across them while they are propped. This also includes any form of DLC (Downloadable Content) which is the stuff that comes out after the release of a game."

Stay tuned to PALGN for more details on the downloadable content for Castle Crashers in the not-too-distant future, not to mention our upcoming review.

How about they fix the game, which as it stands is broken.

If you had taken a look at their site you would've read that the title update to fix connectivity and save issues is their priority, and should be out soon.

Having a hard time getting into multiplayer games doesn't mean it's broken.

In the 2 weeks I've owned the game, I've managed to play one online game. For a title who's main drawcard is the fact that it's online mutliplayer, that's atrocious.

So the online is broken? I downloaded the demo and I tried my hand at some local co-op the other day and came away impressed. I WAS planning on buying the game but now I think I'll wait to see how this pans out...

Not entirely. You can forget about the all you can quaff and arena matches, they typically dropout as soon as the match starts. As for online co-op, some days it works, some it doesn't. On Friday night I setup 5 games over a 1-hour period and they all disconnected from the server 2 minutes into the game. Last night however I played co-op for almost two hours without a hitch. Still incredibly annoying, so many games I have made it to the boss of a particular stage, only for the connection to drop out on me, losing all my progress. So all up I've made about 4 hours progress through the story on co-op over 7 nights, with about 10-15 dropouts during that time. I just love the game too much and am too impatient for an update I guess.

That still sounds far too frustrating to me. I'll consider picking it up once they've stabilized the online.

My mate and I got stuck into this little gem on the weekend. We finished it but were thirsty for more. Great game, pity there seem to be some issues with saving and online play. But i didn't encounter any of these problems myself. Would be a fantastic 4 player romp, just don't have 4 mages or you wont be able to see anything lol! Very funny and entertaining. It's almost reminiscent of a battle toads game. 9.5/10
