Additional content for The Force Unleashed on the way

360 News | Play as Luke Skywalker and explore the Jedi Temple.
Today, Lucasarts announced via press release that two rounds of downloadable content will be coming to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed this spring, for both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 owners.

The first round of downloadable content will include additional costumes and character models which can be used during the single-player mission of the game, including Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Kit Fisto and Ki-Adi-Mundi. The second round will include an all-new single-player mission, set in the ruined Jedi Temple on Coruscant. In this mission, Darth Vader's secret apprentice must confront his inner demons as he tries to learn more about his Jedi father. Picture packs and themes for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will also be released over time.

All downloadable content is being developed by Lucasarts' internal development team. Pricing and exact release dates for the two rounds of content have yet to be announced.

This sounds way too soon for an entire new campaign segment to be released, which means they probably just yanked it out of the retail release to make more $, which means I won't be buying it.

^ It's 1 LEVEL. Not bigger then the first junk level but not as small as the cloud city. So maybe an hour of gaming. It's really worth the time I'm thinking...especially if they charge for it.

@mipac

I agree, it feels like it was part of the plan to sell these segments on their own, instead of putting them into the game.

Perhaps the segments aren't directly related to the story of the game, which is why they are selling it separately, however it makes me long for the days when you purchased a complete package when you bought a game.

Yeah I think this new trend in pre-prepared DLC is a bit of a worry.

Ninja Gaiden II really should have shipped with mission mode, and like you say, this had to be the plan for TFU all along.

Doesn't exactly build goodwill.

Not new. This has been happening since the concept of DLC was introduced. And it sucks.

People really should be wary of putting money down for the risk of sending the wrong message. That is, that it's OK to screw consumers over like this. If people didn't keep sending money their way, we would be seeing this sort of thing today.

I wont be surprised if this is again a 108kb download like the Need For Speed Downloads on XBL -
The level must already exist on the discs and they will just release a key to unlock it in game ....

Wasn't the Jedi Temple level allready in the Wii version of the game? Maybe that's why it's been so quick because all they allready had the basic structure and everything down and they just need to overhaul the graphics.

Yep, these things should be free if their made before the game ships, or they should reduce the price of the game. But they can't double charge people without making them angry.

I think I'll hold off on buying this one a bit longer, instead of buying it at $50 I'll get it at $40, to cover the DLC cost. Plenty of other games out in the meantime (Fallout 3 fever...).

That's odd - the Jedi Temple levels are in the game on Wii. As is the ability to play the single player campaign as tons of different SW characters (minus cutscenes ofcourse)..
