New Aliens Vs. Predator revealed

360 News | Who will come out on top? Taking bets now.
Sega UK recently updated their official website revealing first details on the long awaited Aliens Vs. Predator 3.

Simply titled Aliens Vs. Predator, the game is being developed at Rebellion by the same team who were responsible for the original. The story is set on the planet BG-386 where a colonist mining group has discovered an ancient pyramid. Alerted by the find, the Predators send out a group of their warriors to ensure the terrible Aliens inside remain sealed away. Just as they set out for the planet however, the horrible beasties within begin to awaken.

There will be three single-player campaigns which will tell the story from the perspective of an Alien, a Predator and Private Hal Edison. As the Alien, players will lunge from the darkness and unleash the creature’s ferocious jaws and claws to maul their victims. As the Predator you stalk from the shadows and above, utilising your powerful technologically advanced weaponry and gadgets to take down foes. Private Hal Edison is a soldier of the United States Marine Corps and must act as humanity’s last line of defence. He is armed with the latest in high explosives and automatic weaponry to take down alien scum. In addition to the single-player campaigns there will be online multiplayer. It’s currently unclear how it will work, but players can expect to be going tooth-to-claw-to-pulse rifle in three-way battles.

Aliens Vs. Predator is scheduled to be released in early 2010 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC. We have included some first screenshots in the media panel below.

TRICO and now this.

I love being a gamer.

Man, I loved the other Alien Vs Predator games, the dynamics between the three races made for some varied gameplay and some cool enemies, but the levels and graphics were always a bit naf. Its going to be pretty awesome to see what a coat of next gen paint will do with this ip.

I disagree. I think, for its time, AvP2 looked absolutely gorgeous. Obviously technically limited compared to today's stuff, but I really felt they got the feel and look of architecture and locations from the film spot on.

The outdoor stuff was probably the only environments I felt needed more work. But the indoor environments were spot-on.

Oh, for its time, it was amazing, but I installed the first one a few months ago and was understandably underwhelmed with the graphics quality. I admit with the levels, it was only the outdoor environments that didn't look that great, with blocky edges and some poor stock green textures, but it wasn't exactly their fault. I mean, don't get me wrong, the art style was great, but the graphics haven't aged too well: hence why I'm so psyched to see what they can do with a mix of current gen graphics and the original awesome gameplay.

Uhh, yeh, of course you will be. Hell, why not go and install Wolf3D and discuss how bad the level design and graphical quality is. I call BS becuase as you stated earlier:

So you fell in love with a 10 year old game a few months ago, yet judged the level design and graphics as "naf"?

Enough picking apart your BS. I'm looking forward to this series being resurrected, however, I am skeptical that they can pull off the same balance and feel of the originals (AvP & AvP2).

There was definitely a certain type of gamer who enjoyed AvP, it really wasn't for everyone due to the environments and species differences. It would be a shame if they changed the style to suit the broader market and removed some of the "balance issues" that people who didn't enjoy the game felt were there.

Please let there be facehuggers in multiplayer, cries of "Haha! I ****ed your face!" will be gold.

They all seem pretty doctored to me, but if it's half that awesome I'll still get it.

Er... all those pictures say "Aliens vs. Predator"

As an Alien fan, I'm afraid there is actually a distinct difference between the two.

So therefore, the trilogy consists of "Aliens Versus Predator", "Aliens Versus Predator 2" and now "Aliens vs. Predator".

The naming system is already as lame as the Rambo series...

I should of said 're-install', as I still have it from when it first came out.

Maybe if you read my posts without an internal, seething fanboy rage you wouldn't be such a jackass AND plain wrong.

Nice of you to hide your lies behind name-calling and stupidity. I called your bluff and now you're crying.

Not being a fanboy, but someone who actually appreciated the series during it's time and still respects it now I can't allow some fool to sit there and lie about the game. If you DID have it from when it came out and you WERE someone who enjoyed the game you wouldn't have called it "naf".

I have no more time to waste on you, but I am now well aware that your opinion is merely a waste of time and you have no idea what you're talking about.

Maybe next time you try to disrespect a game from the past you might think twice.

my only worry is that the multiplayer wont hold up to the likes of avp2, which is still played frequently by myself and my mates when we have a nerd night. seriously, nothing beats face **** a mate at 3 in the morn and then hiding on the roof to screw everyone else over.

Wait, what? My bluff? I'm confused, but I'll try to read on.

Umm, you think I'd lie about something as trivial as playing a game? Yeah, you busted me, detective ****.
a) I said it was an awesome game, I enjoyed it, I never stated anything to the contrary.
b) I said the game graphically was a bit naff, which is true, its a 10 year old game, of course it will look naff. What's your point? That I can't have possibly played and liked the game before, as I don't have a 100% glowing admiration of it?

I feel my opinions were both fair and had merit, where the hell down the line did you get this idea that I either don't like the game or don't think its good?

Redundant statement is redundant. But I'm sure your time is very precious, saving lives and such - oh wait, you're on an internet forum posting about a game release, looks like you're not so busy after all...

Well, after a vicious verbal tongue-lashing from you, I'll definitely think twice. I can see you have a strong will and the sort of charisma that can change people's hearts and minds just with your words. That, or you're just an irritable little fanboy who feels he has to knock down everyone's doors with torches ablaze if they even have one criticism against a game they played. How **** empty must your life be that you go around the internet feverish defending something you had nothing to do with. Mate, you played the game, its not like you are the game designer or have any personal stake whatsoever in the game's production - so don't go around getting sand in your vagina over what is at the end of the day a legitimate criticism of a video game.

Down boys..

One man's floor is another man's ceiling. I preferred Rebellion's Aliens versus Predator to Monolith's version and even preferred their choice for graphics rather than the more cartoon drawn style of the sequel. Not everyone thinks that way and it's good that they dont, otherwise the world would be a very boring place.

Ill certainly be upgrading my PC for this release and I'm glad it's in the hands of Rebellion again. They started the series with their great AvP games which gave the 'franchise' some greater exposure, so it just feels right that the license is theirs to utilise again.

Really looking forward to this one!

Does anyone know how to get the original running properly on machines running Windows XP? Whenever I try to play it, it either locks up or runs at a million miles per hour!
