Burnout Paradise's 'Big Surf Island' priced

360 News | EA nails down the pricing details.
Publisher Electronic Arts has today announced the pricing for the upcoming 'Big surf Island' DLC for Criterion Games' high-octane racer Burnout Paradise, which is scheduled to arrive in the coming days.

The Xbox 360 version of the DLC will set players back 1000 Microsoft Points, while and the PlayStation 3 users will have to cough up approximately AUS $16.40 for the download.

The pack is set to expand the world of Paradise City with a new island, adding what developer Criterion describes as "fun challenges and events for groups of friends to play online, an exciting new world to discover, the biggest and wildest jumps yet, plus a set of nine new vehicles to experience it all in."

Big Surf Island will be splashing down onto the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace from 11 June.

Hmm $16.50 Australian for 1000 MS points. For some reason I had this pegged around the $20 mark... I think I was comparing PSN titles cost in the US vs AU.

yeah thats a good price...

i wouldnt pay for the extra cars and things - but a whole new area definitely

Sexy. Much better than most other add ons have been costing (which are more around the 1600 mark) and it doesn't look light on the extras either which is an added bonus.

I thought this would have been much more expensive. I think I'll be picking this up on Thursday.

This has been a long time coming, but it looks like the wait was worth it and at a good price. Shame I traded my copy a couple months back.

They have probably cost it down a little under the weight of the other DLC's they have out for it. Wonder how big the download is. I have only bought the cops and robbers add on so far, none of the other cars, but this might just tempt me.

I hate to say it but the PSN normally uses the UK pound conversion rate for the prices of the DLC on the PSN. There are a few exceptions however the burnout paradise DLC so far has been converted off the UK pound. So we are looking at least at AUS$20 for PS3 owners.

Huh? Only a 100kb download? Anyone else able to confirm this. Surely that can't be right, sounds like an unlock code!

All players will probably need to download the content so as to not split the playerbase too much and make it easier to maintain for the devs. The content would probably be in a normal update, the 100kb is probably just some files to unlock the content.

That's just my opionion/speculation though.

There is also a ~1.2gb update to v1.9 to download as well (on 360).
well that makes more sense.
my stupid reasoning for why the download was so small was well....stupid. haha
if i could get my gf off the tv i would start downloading.

edit looking on some other forums, they are saying the download is only 400mb for the patch. for ps3.

This download pack comes in at 416MB on the PS3. That includes the whole new Island location, 9 new cars and all the great new gameplay.

~420Mb download for PS3. Then you unlock the content with the 100kb file. THis is standard for Burnout and other games - you must apply the "patch" so that you don't have problems playing online with others, then you get the unlock code for the new features.

1.2Gb on Xbox 360 sounds extreme - wonder if they had some additional fixes to throw in there.

Oh and Aussie price - $19.95... was so tempted to download from US store but wasn't sure if it would work on the Aussie game.

The 360 update has everything from all past updates and they just added the island and new cars etc, so if you have any update before 1.9 it can be deleted. Not sure why they do this when they dont on PS3 seems a bit weird making ppl dl something so big.

Bought Big Surf. The new island is nice, they've really packed a lot of ramps, jumps and shortcuts into it. I managed to unlock one of the special cars too (SPOILER:Toy Jansen 88 Special - it's small and flies!), it's pretty sweet although the Dust Storm and it's upgrade are good too.
