First Smackdown vs Raw 2010 details surface

360 News | Grapple with some new features.
On the eve of WWE's annual pay-per-view event, Summerslam, THQ has revealed several pieces of information regarding the next title in the WWE videogame series, WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2010.

Aside from the usual antics of an updated roster, new PPV sets and some new moves, WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2010 is set to include several new creation modes, as well as improvements to modes from previous titles like Create-A-Superstar and Create-A-Finisher.

You will now be able to create your own logos and colour schemes for use with existing superstars, as well as put together your own soap opera WWE storylines. You'll also be able to create entrance videos instead of just entrances. The most significant aspect of these new features, however, is that you'll be able to upload and share your creations with other players online, as well as download and rate other people's creations that catch your eye.

The full roster is yet to be announced, but it is set to include more than 60 wrestlers, as well as 50 Create-A-Superstar slots so you can make anyone who misses the cut.

WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2010 is currently set for release on 22 October 2009 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, DS and PlayStation 2. You can check out the debut trailer embedded below.

Meh, I'll believe it when I see it. The last couple of iterations have felt very samey to me...

I'm excited for it. It seems like SvR09 with shades of Legends, No Mercy and Smackdown 2, which would be a killer combo if it works out. I'm sure a lot of the core stuff's gonna be the same, but I think the extras are gonna really improve it. Seems like the crowd and stage graphics have improved too, and the character models to a degree (there's a great pic of Maryse floating about the net, it's spot on). And the chance of a legends roster? Yes **** please.

One thing that is annoying me about it though is create a finisher only having top rope moves added. It's so frustrating having it so limited, I really want to create submission finishers, or even just groggy back or high-flyer finishers. I guess the latter's somewhat catered for this time round but it's still not a great improvement.
