Red Dead Redemption rides into town

360 News | Bringing a release date and trailer.
Originally scheduled to release around this time, Red Dead Redemption breaks out of the sunset and rides back into town with a release date and a new trailer in tow. Rockstar Games has announced that Red Dead Redemption, the indirect sequel to the journeyman Western Red Dead Revolver, will be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on 27 April 2010 in the United States, while the rest of the world will see a release on 30 April 2010.

Red Dead Redemption, for those who haven't been paying attention, recreates the Wild Wild West from the 1900s. You play as John Marston, an ex-con who in a nutshell, is off to get some revenge on various people who have ruined his newfound peaceful existence. More information on the game can be found in our hands-off preview. In case you haven't noticed by now, it's pretty similar to Grand Theft Auto, but set during a much different time period.

“This is our vision of the American West beautiful, bloody and action-packed. The game is a true epic, and has been developed with the same production values and attention to detail we put into all our projects,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “Red Dead Redemption represents another milestone for us in the development of open world games."

The latest trailer has been attached for your viewing pleasure below. We'll be bring you more Red Dead Redemption coverage leading up to the release.

Grand Theft Wild-West! I can't wait. The first one was fun and Rockstar have learnt a lot since then so this is going to be great.

Anyone know who's doing the music? If I recall correctly Morricone did the score for the original... were they able to bring him back?

I'm pretty sure they just used some of his (and others) music from spaghetti westerns, rather than him specifically writing music for the game.

Edit: oops, sorry, IMDB actually says "Original Music by Ennio Morricone". You learn something new every day! IMDB doesn't have any info on the music for the new game.
