Looks like it's based on 'Animated' could be good though; Who's developing it? Maybe Melbourne House/Krome Studios again?

Looks more like the War Within comics to me, and that can only be a good thing. The PS2 game by Melbourne Studios is still the best Transformers game I've played, I hope this one can live up to it.

I think it was made by an Australian company.
Yeah the company was called Melbourne House. Yeah it was awesome.
Reason I say Animated is due to Optimus' design right at the end of the clip. War within had a similar design though. But in that Optimus was a car rather then a truck.

Nah, the recent animated series has a much more stylised, and exaggerated design. On top of that I really doubt that a title based on the animated cartoon (recent one) would be anything other than cell-shaded.

I am allowing myself to be cautiously optimistic about this.

Few comments;

"prior to first contact with Earth" is not a date, why call it one?

Also, if we're apparantly on Cybertron, why does he transform? I figured the whole point of their ability to transform was to remain incognito on planets other than their own. If they're on Cybertron that's it, everyones a transformer, there's no hiding by turning into a truck on Cybertron, you're going to get shot at regardless.

If you have watched the first episode of G1 you would of seen Bumblebee and wheeljack transform into cybertronian vehicles before launching into space so its nothing new.....

Apparently the game is being developed by High Moon Studios (Darkwatch, The Bourne Conspiracy) and produced by Activision.

Doesn't make it any less retarded.

TRANSFORMERS™: WAR FOR CYBERTRON EXPLORES A BRAND NEW, PIVOTAL CHAPTER IN TRANSFORMERS LORE

New Action Game Delves Deep into the TRANSFORMERS Universe, Introduces All-New Visualizations of Iconic Characters in 2010

Santa Monica, CA – December 16, 2009 – Experience the legendary battle between the AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS as Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) announced today that Transformers™: War for Cybertron is in development by award-winning High Moon Studios. Based on Hasbro’s legendary TRANSFORMERS property, the game takes players to the TRANSFORMERS characters’ home planet of CYBERTRON for a new look into the epic story of the grand civil war that spawned one of the most brutal rivalries of all time.

“Transformers: War for Cybertron is an origins story, taking players on a gripping, adrenaline-fueled journey that precedes the TRANSFORMERS characters’ arrival on Earth,” said Rob Kostich, head of marketing, licensed products, Activision Publishing, Inc. “The game transports players to a living, metallic planet where they will battle as giant converting robots in single player, online co-op or head-to-head multiplayer matches that are fully immersive from start to finish.”

“For the first time, Hasbro is working with Activision to drive the TRANSFORMERS fiction forward into new story arcs, demonstrating pivotal moments in Transformers history that defined who they are,” said Aaron Archer, Senior Design Director, Hasbro. “This remarkable video game helps us to tell a critical event in TRANSFORMERS lore that will be used as canon for future storylines in a way we could have only dreamed of a few years ago. It is a testament to the success of the TRANSFORMERS brand and a key element to the story we look forward to telling in 2010 and beyond.”

Transformers: War for Cybertron features two distinct storylines: the AUTOBOT campaign tells a story of heroism to save their home planet against overwhelming odds, and the DECEPTICON campaign tells a story of an unquenchable thirst for power to control the universe. For the first time in a TRANSFORMERS title, fans will be able to play the game with their friends through team-based online co-op, or go head to head in a variety of intense, online multiplayer game modes. The game features a sci-fi art style that introduces to fans the entire living, metallic world of CYBERTRON, as well as all-new visualizations of the iconic TRANSFORMERS characters in their original Cybertronian forms.

Transformers: War for Cybertron is in development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Windows PC, Wii™ and Nintendo DS™, and is not yet rated by the ESRB.

Why can't they just make a old-animation series game. I'd hit that ten times over.

Optimus shouldn't never carry an axe. Ever.

Didn't he weild an energ(on)y axe dealy while fighting Megatron atop a dam in one of the first G1 eps?

I was just gonna say that. iirc, Megatron had an energy flail or something.

Okay before I go on. DON'T READ THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT PARTS OF THE G1 CARTOON SPOILED FOR YOU!

I assume you're basing this off the recent Michael Bay movies?

Originally when the transformers were first created on cybertron, based on G1 lore, they did not actually transform at all. The autobots were basiczally created as the "consumer" models eg. helping around the house and generally making life easier, whereas the Decepticons were created as the "military" branch of robots.

Eventually the Decepticons decided to take over Cybertron and destroy the Autobots. After this the Autobots developed transforming into cybertronian vehicles as a way to remain incognito on CYBERTRON to strategically outmanouver the Decepticons (Who at this point could not yet transform) as their fighting capacity was, and is, much, much lower then the Decepticons.

So they've been transforming into vehicles long before they ever came to earth. They only really kept it going on earth as it was a more convenient way of getting around, as opposed to being "incognito" since within a few days everyone realised there were giant robots battling each other.

So no, it's not retarded in any way at all. You just didn't know the lore behind it.

Holy poop-on-a-stick! Someone needs to tell Prime to lay off the 'roids! Also, Megatron has a massively fat head. Neat concept art though, Cybertron looks suitably nifty!

I just hope it isnt to do with the lame transformers movies in the 2000's, and at least has galvatron cyclonus and scourge in it icon_biggrin.gif
