Shaun White Skateboarding details

360 News | A new contender enters the ring.
Ubisoft has released the first details on Shaun White's Skateboarding, another title that hopes to give EA's Skate something to worry about.

The press release puts a lot of focus behind the idea of turning a dull city into a skating paradise. Once challenges have been completed, new areas will be unlocked and the city will morph to create better lines to perform all of those spectacular tricks. There are over eighty tricks to perform, but details as to how these are controlled is unknown. Will this be a button mashing contest like the old Tony Hawk games? Or will Ubisoft take a massive risk and attempt to re-create the control scheme used in Skate?

Mr. White's latest offering will be available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii and PC somewhere between September and November. Expect to hear more information at E3, but until then, check out the trailer below.

I have no idea whether the game will be any good or not, but that teaser was freaking awesome.

I find it funny that Shaun White is getting his own skateboarding game. He's a nobody in the skateboard world. I can't see how this could possibly match up with Skate but hopefully it'll turn out to be a nice distraction.

^^Wasn't he the X games vert champ a few years ago?? I remember watching the X games in the US in 06 when he was trying 1080's on the halfpipe

I forgot about that. X Games is pretty lame, not too many legit pros enter. I've never seen Shaun White in any legit skate mags or videos. There's no doubt he's massive in the snowboard world though, so using him as a brand name is a smart move.

Edit; Shaun White isn't even in the trailer icon_lol.gif

In the same way that Mario Kart can match up to Gran Turismo? Ones a simulator, the other is more arcadey. And thats fine, because I'd much rather an arcadey skate game, and Tony Hawk isn't cutting it.

Yep, that's exactly what I meant. Distraction wasn't the really the word I was looking for.

Note the song used in the trailer, and how I introduced it as Mr. White, i.e. Harvey Keitel...

Looks like I failed. :/

In our defense it'd be different if Shaun White wasn't Mr. White. But as it stood all anyone would associate it with is the dude with the goofy grin and not Harvey Keitel.

Very clever though.
