X05: Perfect Dark Zero Image

360 News | The first official in-game image, and things are looking very tidy.
When Perfect Dark Zero was announced before E3 this year, Microsoft released a batch of images that left people, uhm, sceptical at best. Since then, a few more shots images have filtered through, but none of them have left many people frothing quite as much as we expected.

Thank heavens then for X05, where Microsoft has unveiled the first in-game image of Perfect Dark Zero. And to say the game has come far since the first announcement is an understatement. We've included the image in the Media Panel, and left it in the full high resolution glory we knew you'd want it in. Just take a look at those fingernails eh? We'll have a preview of Perfect Dark Zero shortly, so keep checking back for more updates.

Is it bad that I see that as the same quality found in Splinter Cell: The One Before Chaos Theory? icon_confused.gif

Screen shots don't seem to do the games justice anymore. I'm sure they looks better in the in-game footage videos...

I don't know about that. I think Microsoft just want to make us believe the game looks crap and hit us with the final version, which will no doubt look superb. Just look at the Kameo screenshots, they look a lot better than anything (in screenshot form) that has been shown for this game.

This is probably the one reason why I'm buying a Xbox 360. This and Gears of War.... damn we need a drool emoticon.

Nice detail in that shot, but the actual quality of the image doesn't look great. It looks more like a good quality magazine scan.

icon_drool.gif <- you mean something like this?

edit: damn you Obsolete and your superior typing speed...

I'm actually pretty impressed by this shot. The sunlight looks really convincing. And this does look really good in motion, I remember checking out some of the vids they had over at jeux-france. The only thing that looks really crappy is the way the camera switches to 3rd person every time you perform an evasive roll. I can see it really throwing off your co-oridination, all the while your enimies are shooting at you. Hopefully they pull that from the final as it's totally pointless and stupid. And the enemy AI and ragdoll physics sucked. But graphically, it looks brilliant. I suppose that's something...

And the Kameo Video Tour 1 movie on this page made me want the game really really badly. It looks fantastic.

That's not a drool... looks like he's lighting a fire infront of his face.

I was just watching some of the videos of the game in action from X05. It definitely looks a lot better in action, no doubt about it, but one thing that puzzled me from the footage was that Joanna almost sounds American now. I thought she had that sexy British accent?

^ it's a drool, no point trying to hide the fact you missed it icon_razz.gif

even the command for it says so:
: drool :
(without the spaces)

looking funkier now than the first lot of shots, and if the difference between static and motion is anything like that difference, it should be a good game. i hope it comes to PC, despite looking pretty, i can't stand FPS games on consoles.

I can see why they were so reluctant to release screens when the game looks like it belongs in this gen.

hahaha i can see her nail.

I can already think of some duke-nukem-esque one liners she'll spurt during the game.

'You broke a nail-now it serious!'

If I were given a choice between a console or PC version, the latter is what I would choose, hands down. But if there's a console exclusive FPS that I really want, the two joystick controls aren't going to stop me from playing it. It's clearly inferior to the mouse keyboard setup, but it just the job done, if a little sluggishly...

I'm loving those X05 videos. If this keeps up, I might end up buying a 360 sooner than I'd like...

I tend to say the dual stick system is more realistic because it's slower, people just don't spin around 180º with an assault rifle and place 3 shots into someone's head like you can do in CS or Halo: CE (PC) (I found Halo PC a joke in difficulty compared to the Xbox version). But people will always have their preffrence, but I think the Revolution will completely change the mouse and keyboard dominance sooner or later.

Hahaha, I bought a DS on launch day and still haven't got around to buying any games for it other then a couple GBA games.

I'm borderline schizophrenic so chatting and drawing to myself in Pictochat can keep me amused for an hour or two sometimes.

That's what I've always thought icon_lol.gif

You'll excuse me for not looking in detail at the graphical differences between PD0 and the current generation of consoles. It really doesn't make any difference to me. icon_kero.gif

Just remember that this is the beggining of the 'next gen' life cycle. We'll be seeing some minor changes here and there to most of the games that are released during this period. Things will really start to take off a few months/years into the generation, so we can't really be all that critical on developers at this stage.

I'm sure you all know and acknoweledge this, just thought I'd point it out...

Remember that both Halo and DOA 3 were launch titles on the Xbox - both plew people away for various reasons.

I think you'll find that Perfect Dark Zero will be a good game, and feature a lot of minor detail that isn't there in current gen games. For example, the bricks are 3D rather than being a flat texture.

I could swear I've posted this before, but I can't seem to find it. Oh well.

Screenshots simply do not do this game justice.

Watch some direct feed movies and you'll see that the game moves fluidly, has some amazing surface textures and lighting and its own distinct art style, swaying away from the conventional realism of most other games that flaunt theur eye-candy. The forest level sports amazing lighting as well (throughout the environment, light permeates through the leaves as they sway, projecting shadows on the jungle floor).

Furthermore, it looks like more fun than pushing disabled monkeys in wheelchairs down staircases.

Joanna Dark is this month's FHM UK's covergirl.

there was an official FHM page with the entire article and all the pics, but i can't find the actual link anymore, i'll add it later if i find it.

it's interesting though, since wasn't she designed not to be a "Lara Croft"-esque sex symbol initially? seems MS has far less scruples.

BTW: did anyone end up getting that Girls of Game's Playboy? although i know i shouldn't, i'm interested to see what they actually do.

I think this has taken the Halo 2 turn, with the punk music and the re-done main charater. Overall I don't like the new Perfect Dark overally, the first one showed off the the gittyness and the technolgical side of it all. This one's just showing off graphics and its done with a clean, sterile sort fo style to it.

I would've been happy to see the orginal redone with new graphics and online. Now that would turn heads!

Sounds like Conker...

The appeal is definitely more focused on Joanna's sex appeal, but nevertheless it still looks stylish. I hope this game has similar multiplayer features as the original - absolutely jammed packed.

It would be good to some of the original weapons in it also, which had a nice mix of weapons.

That would be brillaint, the only problemm with it is trying to get online working effectively. That'll be MS's biggest problem.
