'I知 not sure everyone will get an X360 by Christmas'

360 News | Peter Moore admits Europeans may be left disappointed this Xmas.
After the US launch and the associated madness it triggered, it always felt kind of inevitable that Microsoft wouldn't be able to meet demand for its next-generation console in other regions. And sure enough, in an interview with the Official UK Xbox Magazine, Microsoft's Peter Moore has now confessed that quite a few European consumers are going to be left disappointed over the Christmas period.

'The good news is that Xbox 360 is a very desirable product,' said Moore, a statement that probably won't warm the cockles of those who queue for two hours on December 2nd only to be told there's no more consoles to go round. 'The bad news,' he continued, 'is that it痴 not like baking bread. It has 1700 parts, we have to make them, pack them, and ship them. We池e trying to get everyone satisfied as quickly as we can but demand is huge. I知 not sure I can guarantee that everyone will get an Xbox 360 by Christmas.'

Surprisingly though, Moore also mentioned that even customers who didn't pre-order an X360 months ago will still have a chance at picking one up, and he didn't mean for 」2,000 on eBay. 'What we have done is encourage retail to keep a balance between pre-orders and first-come-first-served sales, both in North America and in Europe.' Interesting, and possibly a catalyst for the odd bloody stampede/punch-up? Let's hope so, as they always make great stories.

Anyway, there's under 48 hours to go until the console launches in a PAL region for the first time, so stay tuned to PALGN for the very best Xbox 360 coverage, reviews and feedback.

This whole "got to get it as soon as it comes out" mentality has got to stop. Everyone will get one eventually and you won't be any less of a person for showing patience.

Allow me to translate what Peter Moore was trying to say but proffesional practice has not permitted him:

GO BUY AN XBOX 360 BEFORE STOCK RUNS OUT AND YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT! OMG! THAT'S RIGHT WAIT!

Mate, you could't pay me enough to stand in line for anything. I'll be buying mine mid 06.

In fact waiting will leave you with a revision B or C product, which nowadays are the safer bet.

Sigh.. people never learn. Buying a system on launch? It's more likely to have bugs, the games tend to mediocre, and not everyone who preorders gets their system...

....that said, as a nintendo whore I'm probably getting a revolution on launch. At least they don't tend to run out of stock as quickly as the other two.

This place in Baulkham Hills made a special agreement with MS to import 12 xbox 360s on preorder for their gaming lounge. I'm not sure if they are NTSC or PAL. Or if they plan on using HD displays. I'm definitely gonna go over on my lunch break to check out PGR3 either way.

I called em today to see if they've got them yet. Guess what? ... stock shortages, they are expecting them some time in December.
