Xbox 360 demo units to hit Australia in weeks

360 News | Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo and more to be playable.

Normally before a console is launched it will make an appearance in gaming shops as a bit of a teaser in order to entice more people to the new console. Microsoft have announced that over 1000 demonstration units of the Xbox 360 will be in Australian stores from early February. Of course, they neglected to mention any specific locations of these machines, so it might take a bit of hunting to find one.

The demo units will contain demos of Kameo, Project Gotham Racing 3, NBA Live 06 and King Kong. A selection of the units will be on high definition televisions and will also be showing game trailers for upcoming games.

Despite the rumours of the launch being pushed back to mid-March, it seems to us like Microsoft's plan for launching the console on the 2nd of March is still on track. We'll have more on the Xbox 360 in the coming weeks leading up to it's launch.

After seeing a few trailers for Dead Or Alive 4 and Project Gotham Racing at EB Games the other day, hopefully these demo units being shown on high definition televisions will look better.

I played on a 360 about a week ago at Harvey Norman...
Too bad my experience wasn't too next-gen as I played Tony Hawk. *yawn*
All the while PDZ was in the cabinet mocking me.

Well, if anyone at all is interested and is from Perth, WA.
There is an XBOX 360 - with all the bells and whistles - set up at Harvey Norman in Cannington for people to come in and play some games - proper games - not just demos - the actual console is not official launch hardware, but was got from Japan - they are running through a power converter.
It does look sensational tho, I had a little run on COD2 - which I though I wouldnt like, but man, was I wrong !! -Daniel

In the article it says that the 360 launch may be delayed to mid-March.

delay is what has intrested me!! it cant be i have heard nothing of it..... it has to be fake..... it better be i am taking a week of work around launch so i can just chill and play

And the game was running in HD. (I think - it looked so current gen though) And the controller was attached to the 360 I was playing on.

I forgot to post this, but I didn't think it was that important. My best mate's cousin got an Xbox imported from Japan about a month ago or something like that. And thought it was pretty groovy. The graphics have had an improvement, but there is so far you can go. Plus I wasn't palying on a HDTV, the only game I played was Perfect Dark. I had no clue about the menu sine they were in Japanese. The gameplay was really fun!

my local Harvey Norman has one on display. made me laugh when i found out they got it from Japan. They were most likely begged to do take it off the distributors' hands
