Pre E3 2006: Activision confirm Call of Duty 3

360 News | Development to be headed up by Treyarch.
Activision have just announced on IGN that there is indeed a new Call of Duty game on the way, and it will be shown in some form at E3. It will, shockingly, be known as Call of Duty 3, and looks set to be on all three next generation consoles at this stage.

For this game, Activision have handed the development keys to Treyarch, who will be producing the next generation versions. However, this announcement didn't include anything about a PC version, or what the developers of the first two games in the series, Infinity Ward, are up to. Let the speculation commence...

A more detailed announcement should hopefully come during E3. In the mean time, IGN have the official teaser trailer on their website.

CoD3 on Wii? Do I throw my controller or the whole console out the window when I want to throw a grenade?

CoD2 was a brilliant game, but I'm not sure how much more of WWII they can feasibly cover.

Activision are secretly stirring up international tensions so they get a new war to make games about >_>

Treyarch developed the last Call of Duty title for consoles, so there's no surprise there.

I was reading last night how Activision plan to release three launch titles for the Wii, and with Activision dropping the bomb that this upcoming Call of Duty title will be released in the company's third quarter of this fiscal year (October 1, 2006 - December 31, 2006), one can only imagine that Call of Duty is one of those launch titles. And if history repeats itself for Nintendo's last two consoles (Gamecube and DS) then the Wii, and Call of Duty 3, will be released in November. For the US at least.

The console Call of Dutygames - bar the Xbox360 game - have been pretty average so I'm not too sure how this'll turn out. But a First Person shooter is something the Wii certainly needs during its launch window.

I played the last one on the CUBE, I found it very average but when you go to the Activision website they go on about how its the best WW2 game etc etc etc.... In the cube version I kept on getting stuck in the terrain which was so unbelievably frustrating,,,,extremely poorly conducted coding/ porting IMO

But call of duty 3 looks fantastic on the demo video on PS3, Which im still unsure whether to get PS3 or XBOX 360 (not sure if I wanna support BlueBETA) but on the wii... which Im really looking forward too, I hope they code it properly and not a &*&*&** ty port

Call of Duty games are best played on the PC. Like Mark said, bar the Xbox 360 version (which was a port of the PC version) the console versions are a nerfed mess in comparison.

Shame that joke was killed off when Nintendo showed the Wrist Strap for the controllers too. icon_razz.gif
