Kid buys Madden

We've always wondered exactly what it was that made the Madden NFL series so successful but it seems the secret has been revealed.

14-year old Koltan Murphy from Utah was given Madden NFL 07 by his uncle for Christmas, with the title purchased from a branch of Circuit City in California. However, rather than seeing sweaty big men throwing a ball, he saw porn flash up on the screen; we assure you there are differences between the former and the latter.

Koltan told his parents who were understandably shocked. The Murphys aren't looking to sue but just want to ensure this doesn't happen again. The Hot Coffee mod doesn't seem quite as bad now does it?

Hang on... it doesn't say anywhere that the game was sealed. Maybe the uncle threw the porn in there after a long night of ...errr, whatever you do while watching porn.

Anyway this kid sucks. 14 and scoring free porn and then COMPLAINING? Maybe it was the wrong kind of porn? Maybe the kid has a fetish? Damn it, too many questions. Why am I overthinking this?

The thing that really impressed me with all this - even though details are scarce - is that the family isn't trying to blow this up into a big 'games are evil give us money' sue fest. Surely this is a first?
Perhaps that's why the story is getting so little media coverage? Or is that just the cynic in me talking...

i'd like to know where in the handling chain the game malfunction occurred. as Theory implied, was it sealed, or somewhere else?

this isnt the fist time it has happened. a couple of years ago auzkickers (little kids program for afl) got a cd where they learn stuf about the game and a little kid clicked on one of the pages and got porn on his. it wasnt just his though! every disk that got handed out had it in the same spot. so they had to remake the whole disk and hand them all out again

Worse happened here not all that long ago. Some disgruntled employee packed a few images of child pornography into various toys, caused quite an uproar.

Second hand ipods need to be cleaned out now after an 8 year old girl bought an ipod video with hardcore porn on it (and not the straight kind either).

I pretty sure she'd be mentally scarred for that one.
