360 Classics range in March

360 News | The cream of the crop to launch for budget prices.
Microsoft has announced that it will be releasing its Xbox 360 Classics range on March 1, with the first ten titles to retail for AU$49.95. The first Classic titles to be available are:

  • Project Gotham Racing 3
  • Perfect Dark Zero
  • Kameo: Elements of Power
  • Dead or Alive 4
  • Call of Duty 2
  • Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
  • Condemned: Criminal Origins
  • Peter Jackson's King Kong
  • Tomb Raider: Legend (available in "late March")
  • Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis

The Classic range is conveniently debuting down here during the same month as the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player is launched, oh, and a little thing known as the PlayStation 3 - but at AU$49.99 apiece, we’re not complaining.

That is very good value for 360 games, good to see a form of platinum for the 360.

"Classics?" Man, the 360 launch line-up REALLY sucked- not one exclusive to write home about. I'm glad it's picked up, though my wallet isn't so much.

I mean, we couldn't say that about any other platform, right? icon_rolleyes.gif

Anyway good to see budget prices so soon already, great for the late adapters that theory mentioned in the other thread.

This makes the Job for PS3 harder to win a % market share. No doubt, there will be mass advertising for the 360's classic range around the corner.

Exclusivity isn't a prerequisite for a game worth buying.

But you can't make concessions if it's exclusive. "Oh, it looks pretty on 360, but I can still play it on PS2 so I guess I don't need to spend $650 to get it..."

As difficult as it is to believe, not everyone owns a PS2 and perhaps some people would prefer to buy the game with shiny graphics on the console they'll be spending the most time with.

Most of those games have been $70 for ages now. I have been eyeing off DoA4, Kameo, TRL and RpTT for months. In fact, RpTT has been cheaper than $50 a few times I have seen it. those four games rite there are on my "reasons to get a x360" list, so this is very good news for me!

It is around the time the "budget" line debuts that I start to show an interest in seriously buying a console. No game is worth more than $50 imo, so until they fall, the console is pointless.

I it is going to be a little while yet before I abandon the PS2, X-Box (and cube.. what little I play it), but this announcement has definitely put me one step closer.

There will need to be more than just 4 titles in the classic range that interest me, or a console price drop before I finally become a part of the current gen.. but it looks like it hopefully should be soon. icon_smile.gif

I've seen em cheaper. Still they are decent prices. Rather pick em up second hand though for even less. And without the ugly cover, doesnt look right in my collection.

I may play Tomb Raider now. At $50 its probably worth it.

Yeah most of the games there you can pick up for $35 at EB atm. They have 50% off the $65 RRP.

Kameo and COD 2 is tempting I must say.

^ $35 ea for CoD2 and Kameo is totally worth it.

my local Games Wizards has Kameo for $25 new, its $49.95 already but they have a 50% off sticker. Interestingly they have a second copy of Kameo new thats $30, $59.95 with a 50% off sticker on it. They are right next to each other so surprising the salesguys don't look. Even at these prices they don't get sold which is surprising. Then again Kameo was a part of the wireless entertainment pack which gave you Kameo, Xbox Live Unlimited and a Wireless Controller for $99.95 before Christmas.

Just hope they don't have ugly cases like the Xbox Classics range.

My local EB had heaps of copies of DOA4 for about $30 each at Christmas. I think they might have been preowned. I guess people play it for a bit and get frustrated with the difficulty or just sick of the gameplay.

Great prices just what I was looking for in the classics range. I'd like to pick up GRAW, PD0 and Tomb Raider. I'll probably still buy off ebay but a classics range will drop prices everywhere nevertheless.
