Tetris Evolution announced

360 News | Coming in HD.
THQ has announced that Tetris Evolution is on its way for the Xbox 360, THQ's last Tetris title was Tetris Worlds, which was released in 2003.

THQ will be adding new gameplay modes, new themes, skins, icons and music and online play for up to four players. The online play is certainly what grabs our attention the most though, considering the game supports live we wouldn't be surprised to see downloadable content either.

Unfortunately those expecting a budget title are in for a shock, as the game will retail at $99.95AUD, the price that Microsoft publishes retail titles. The game will be out in late April.

Wow, cause this is what i've always wanted. If there's a game that needed a HD graphics upgrade-it's tetris.

Lame.

Online support for up to a whole 4 players huh? Excuse me while I go and change my now soiled-with-excitement (also, excremement) dacks. Hey THQ, Tetris on DS handled 8 players. Off 1 cart. Flawlessly. How about you get off your behinds and match that?

I've got a feeling this is going to be poor.

hahahaahahahahaha

i wouldnt pay 9.95 for tetris...

That's some tough ban?

Does this mean you're no longer banned? You still have a banned plaque under your avatar?

On topic: As Karai Pantsu said, if Tetris DS can have up to 8 players on a service like Nintendo WFC, you'd think it would be a piece of cake for THQ to do the same, if not more on Xbox LIVE.

EDIT: Post deleted by me.

Why don't they just make this an arcade title? Does it really need to be a full fledged Xbox title purchased at the store?

The banned plaque looks like it belongs in Vista icon_eek.gif

Is it just me, or shouldn't Tetris be an arcade title? Geometry Wars has to be more complex than Tetris... THQ are such a bipolar publisher, good games here and there then utter tripe like this.

i really can't see how full-priced rrp for this would be justified. it can't be too hard to code a 22 year old game?

even in HD, i can't see it being that hard.

EDIT: i agree with the above 2 posts, XBLA seems like a much better option. i imagine that if someone coded it for XBLA and released it for $15 or something, it'd probably sell pretty damn well.
Call it PALGNBlocks, or something, so you don't infringe on the copyright.

re: Banned User tag. this is done manually, whereas the ban timer, is automatic. obviously the timing is a little off in this instance.

I remember when palgn blocks was a pack in with the brick gameboy-free.Then again though that was back in my day.You know, when you could buy a bag of lollies for sixpence and we had to walk fifteen miles to school every morning. In the snow. And on our hands, cause we didn't wanna get our new shoes wet.

^ yeah, i remember those days too. the 20 kilometre walk home was worse, imo.

i've never really understood the appeal of Tetris, and it's clones though. i'm really not a fan, so i guess that might go some of the way to explaining why i don't understand why anyone would pay full price for it on the XBox.

I still play Tetris on my brick GameBoy occasionally, feels like treason to play it on anything else though.

I wonder how many people will pay $100 for it though.

Thats funny with the tag

On topic, XBLA, VC, etc Tetris is a natural for those services, as far as the make your own Tetris thing, there are plenty of Tetris clones available for free online so it wouldn't be that hard to make a cheap one for Live

I am a little confused as to why they would charge full price with what seems to have as much (or even less) content than the DS version.

Hahahaha... $100 for Tetris.

I love Tetris, but damn. I've got the old pack in one anyway, which chances are will be better than this anyway.

Should of been an Xbox live arcade title.

EDIT: They also should of made a custom soundtrack mode, where the beats of the song determin how fast the blocks drop, Gimiky i know.

^Just as long as you know.

Did you guy mean this game?

Bring on 3d tetris at least. Would be nice to put on those glasses again.
I'm guessing the game will feature about 50 different game modes to warrant the price. Either that or strip tetris will be packed in where you have to line up the men with the women to slowly reveal a naked person (him or her depending on preference stated upon starting).
