Mercenaries 2 coming to 360, PC, PS2

360 News | One of the worst kept secrets ever officially confirmed.

When Mercenaries 2 was officially confirmed in 2005 the game was touted as being a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Rumblings that the game was coming to other platforms have been around for a while now but Pandemic has finally confirmed that the game is coming to the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 2.

The game will ship during the 2007 holiday season and the title will be available on all platforms on the same day. Pandemic Studios CEO Andrew Goldman commented on the decision in bringing the game to all four platforms, arguing that "all four platforms are incredible gaming machines. (The game had been designed) from the beginning (as) an experience that accentuates their (platform's) different strengths."

This kinda threw me for a loop actually - I was fully expecting the X360 version, but a PC version? Now I don't know which one I'd rather get! Do I go for the 360 for the achievements, or the PC version for the possibly better graphics/modding?

Can't wait, eitherway. Mercs was a seriously underrated game, and I expect big things from the sequel.

I'd personally go for the 360 version with the guaranteed smooth framerate. I'll let my 360 do all the heavy lifting for now. I didn't just spend $700 just so I could spend upwards of that getting my PC to run the same stuff.

Also, it's good to hear it finally get the official seal of authentication. I don't like the idea of it coming to the PS2 though. Maybe it's a sign that Pandemic don't have enough faith in the PS3 to sell it on solely on that machine for the Sony front. I just hope that version won't adversely affect development for the next gen versions.

Well that's great news that Mercenaries 2 is coming to the 360, I loved the original and can't wait for the sequel.

I was thinking the same thing, but then I remembered the screens that were releaed for it a while back and forgot my worries

Assumption ahead: I reckon Pandemic would be building the game around the next-gen/PC spec and then scaling it all down for the PS2, rather than the other way around.

It's the developers from pandemic showcasing the game and looks really nice with all the destructible environments and vehicles on offer.
Can't wait to wreak havok in the city in an apache gunship.

Man too many good games coming out and not enough time to play them all.
