First official Transformers screen

360 News | Yep, just the one.
The very first screenshot for the new Transformers game materialised in our inbox this morning, courtesy of publisher Activision.

The single screenie, which depicts old Autobot favourite Bumblebee poncing around outside a factory, is taken from the Xbox 360 version, though the game will also be appearing on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable and the PC when it launches later this year (hopefully alongside the movie, which is scheduled for July). It's being put together by the terribly talented folks at Traveller's Tales, the bods behind the Lego Star Wars games.

Did they say whether this was an in game screenshot or from an FMV sequence?

Judging by the aliasing, I'd say it was ingame. Looks promising.

They didn't, no.

EDIT: Luke contacted Activision who confirmed it was in-game. Yay.

From what I've read on (GASP) other news sites, the pic is in-game. I have to say that I'm no fan of the re-imagined look of the Transformers, but even taking that out of the equasion that is a pretty bland screenshot - It certainly doesn't get me excited about the game.

Well looks promising to me, if it has the playability or surpases the playability of the Transformers game released on the PS2 then I will definately be looking to purchase the game. I didn't like the redesign of the characters for the movie, but they are growing on me now, especially the new Bumblebee

Bumblebee's the worst redesign, the Camero is one big ugly car.

Never got to play the PS2's Transformer game, but the theme music was fanastically done by Regurgitator.

There's a lot of promise in this game, the LEGO Star Wars games are fantastic.

I dont see how their slogan "theres more than meats the eye" would fit with this game, if that is in game, that is impressive

That has got to be the worst looking 360 screenshot I've ever seen.

I'm looking forward to this one, Crackdown meets Transformers? HELL YEAH!

That's not bumblebee, that's just a crappy looking robot trying to be Bumblebee.

THAT's the real bumblebee.

I hate the new looks icon_sad.gif

^^^I wholeheartedly agree. Still, wild horses couldn't keep me away from this game. GTA with Optimus Prime (hopefully there'll be some kind of flame-reduction cheat).

I just wanna see Megatron get drunk on power like in season 2 of the original generation.

God im looking forward to this. Transformers on PS2 was so awesome. Has multiplayer over Live been confirmed yet? Because that would be sweet as, just like Gears but instead of COGs vs Locusts - Autobots vs Decepticons. Transforming from one form to another could really make for some awesome online tactics.

^ I'd tap that in an instant. Even better, PALGN Transformers matches?

Hell yeah?

HELL YEAH!

For the film they've made changes to make it more modern. My solution if I were making the film?

Set it during the 80's!!!

I hate the re-design aswell .. I miss the simple designs from previous transformers.

I miss Megatron's mullet-hemlet! icon_smile.gif

Now, if they were to make a movie/game based on the Steampunk design Transformers (Transformers: Hearts of Steel) that'd be just about the best thing ever. Steampunk = win.

They were looking at using the original designs at one point.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura: “Like we took a picture of Optimus Prime and put him out in Central Park and it looked silly, and in doing so we have to make it more real for a broader audience than the original series was.”

Well... uh... so long as they put some effort into it, then....

Uh.. I mean.. Nah.. I don't see what the guy's on about.

Edit: Except maybe that with those joints, the only thing Optimus could realistically do with his arms would be:

"I feel like Matrix Tonight, like Matrix Tonight."

Most of the problems with the original designs was the way they transformed. Even the better animated tech demos of the original Optimus design look a bit silly.

I played the PS2 version and found it very "meh" but I could never get enough of racing around in car form then transforming on the fly or vice versa running and jumping then transforming into the car, the speed of transformation was well implemented.
I just hope the game retains that same fast transform aspect.
Regardless if this game is even average I'm getting this for sure.
