Epic plays down Gears 2 speculation

360 News | Delays the inevitable.
We all know it's coming, but it seems developer Epic just isn't quite ready yet to absolutely confirm a sequel to Gears of War. The latest denial of a follow-up to the Xbox 360's most successful game has come from Epic VP Mark Rein, who was keen to respond to reports yesterday that lead designer Cliff Bleszinski had confirmed Gears 2 at the 2007 Game Developers Conference.

"Cliff didn't confirm anything of the sort," wrote Rein on the game's official forum. Then again, with Rein having already strongly hinted that there will be other Gears of Wars games, a cast-iron confirmation can't be too far away.
