New Guitar Hero II content on Marketplace

360 News | Rock on to some golden oldies.
Got a spare moment from head-banging your way through the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II? Then lay down your shattered X-plorer axe, and get this: a bunch of songs from the first Guitar Hero game have gone on sale on the Xbox Live Marketplace today.

They're not cheap, but then the best things in life rarely are. The nine songs are divided into three packs of three songs, each priced at 500 Microsoft points (AU$8.25 / £4.25 / €5.82). Here's what each contains:

Track Pack 1
  • Bark at the Moon (Ozzy Osbourne)
  • Hey You (The Exies)
  • Ace of Spades (Motorhead)
Track Pack 2
  • Killer Queen (Queen)
  • Take it Off (The Donnas)
  • Frankenstein (The Edgar Winter Group)
Track Pack 3
  • Higher Ground (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
  • Infected (Bad Religion)
  • Stellar (Incubus)

Now work out how much it'll cost to purchase every track from GH1 when they're all eventually released.

I hate microtransactions.

^There's nothing micro about this.

The negative side effect of consoles going online. Can't these dickheads just release expansion packs and be done with it??

Waaaaaaaaaay too much. 100pts per song would have been bearable but 500pts for 3 is not only overpriced but you're being forced to buy songs you might not want. If they were new songs it wouldn't be so bad but these are songs from a 2yr old game, it's not like they've had to go through the time and expense of recording these song especially for DLC....

I say put up or shut up. Me, I was happy to buy these tracks. For someone who already had GH on PS2, they may have thought differently, but me? I saw the price and I thought "Nyeh, who cares." It's about $2.50 per song - not that much more than iTunes really.

Notice how they put 1 good song in each pack?? The other 2 are rubbish..Greedy bastards.

I love the game, I hate those prices.

There go my hopes of playing GH1 songs using the GH2 system. I'll stick with GH1 on PS2 thanks.

What else is there to say other than F**K OFF Microsoft/Activision or whoever-the-f**k green lighted this sh!t.
