Four new Gears maps on the way

360 News | 800 points to you, squire.
A new map pack for the insanely popular Gears of War will be appearing on the Xbox Live Marketplace from Thursday, priced at just 800 points. The patient cheapskates among you may wish to wait until September 3rd however, when the maps will become free. If you remember, this was the compromise that was reached between publisher Microsoft (which wanted to charge for the maps) and developer Epic Games (which wanted to give them away for zilch).

The "Hidden Fronts" pack will contain four new maps, including "Bullet Marsh" (an arena infested with deadly Kryll, and a knackered old generator that can be shut down to cloak the entire area in Kryll-friendly darkness), "Garden", "Process" (apparently ideal for team games) and "Subway" (which is set in Timgad's Central station, and crawling with filthy Locust).

Of course they'll be very popular. I heard that they will become free September 3rd.

As if that's not far away.
