New Gears of War achievements coming today

360 News | A few fixes too.

Microsoft has announced via a press release eight new achievements for the Annex game type and Hidden Fronts Multiplayer Map Pack will be made available today.

The eight achievements will total 250 points. Epic has also improved the Roadie Run controls so that players have a greater control of their movement. The title update will also help squash multiplayer exploits and fix a few other small bugs. The Annex game type is available now on the marketplace for free whereas the Hidden Front Multiplayer Map pack is available for 800 points. All of the maps will be made available for free on September the 3rd.

I like to see this content moving out, it adds flavour to a game i havent played for a while.
Its great that there fixing the MP exploits, the chainsaw glitch is really annoying

^ If it's anything like the last time they fixed the glitches, it won't be long until there's new ways to do it or whatever. Which is a shame considering I too hate the chainsaw glitch but yeah, don't expect it to be gone for good.

As for this news, good to hear that the achievements are finally going to be obtainable. In a way I was kinda hoping to have Seriously... done first before they came, but meh it doesn't really matter. At least now I've got something other than Seriously... to work towards.

It's going to be a loooooooooong mission to get 1250 gamerscore.

maybe im a bit undereducated, but I dont have an xbox 360 and my brother is considering getting one or a ps3, more likely the xbox due to his godly skill at halo.

What is all this achievements points stuff and their benefit? even a link to where i can learn more will do.

Achievements are objectives that you can complete in each game and they give you points (Gamerscore) for doing so. If you look in my sig, or slapshakle and NismoR34's above me, you'll see icons of the last 5 games played, our 360 avatar and our Gamerscore. There's no real benefit, other than personal goals but I really feel I get more out of games trying to get every little achievement. They did however hold a U.S only competition where getting 1500 points in a month got you a free game and some microsoft points, so hopefully in the future we will see similar promotions here.

Retail games have 1000 points, Live arcade titles have 200 and they've introduced a new system where via downloadable content developers can add another 250 points (such as Gears) or 50 points for arcade games.

Fantastic. Cannot wait to plug away at these achievements. Annex is great, but without any achievements it's not really worth investing your time.

Man, I should already have half those achievmeents anyway!
