Crackdown 2 not coming

360 News | We die a little inside.
Before Crackdown was released it was known as "that title that came with the Halo 3 beta", once it was released though Crackdown quickly won a place in our hearts. Whilst the game wasn't perfect it was an enjoyable sandbox game. After the large sales of the first game we thought a sequel was a certainty, but Real Time Worlds the developer of the first game has confirmed there will be no sequel.

Producer Phil Wilson commented that ""Microsoft were a little late in stepping up to the plate to ask for Crackdown 2, and by then we had already started working on bigger, better things". These bigger things are probably APB the MMO that Realtime Worlds is currently working on.

But who knows, there's always the Halo 4 beta!

Noooo! icon_cry.gif

Really enjoyed the first game and bitterly disappointed about there being no sequel, especially since the developers have their hands full on an MMO...

Ohhhh I enjoyed the first game and really thought there was a lot of potential for an ambitious sequel. I considered it a cert after the cliffhanger ending. Well hopeful they'll revisit the idea in a few years after APB is released icon_sad.gif

Crackdown was alright and had its fun for a good amount of time but after a while it started to really loose its appeal. If they did a second game I would hope there would be more interactivity with the environments and more importantly the people in the city but I probably wouldn't really get that excited for another title and I think Microsoft is right to invest more in titles like APB which I've been looking forward to for ages along with many others. MMO is one genre the 360 hasn't really done to well in yet and it would be good to see them get out some good titles before the rival companies do.

I don't get it, surely since there hands are full now they can make a sequel..atleast nextgen?

How many developers these days would stand up and say no to a sequel of a successful first game, in order to work on something new? Good on them.

yeah, but then again, if you look at the achievement lists of many XBLers, crackdown was still pushed strongly by the beta... they could also be scared that it wouldn't have normally been so succesful...

APB does sound alright though and has a little of the premise of Crackdown. Indeed I've been wanting to play an MMO like APB for some time. Its the cops vs robbers every boy plays as a kid icon_smile.gif Although it does have some pretty saucy artwork on the official site www.apb.com
