Xbox Live choking

360 News | Too much turkey?
Microsoft's Xbox Live service has been experiencing technical difficulties throughout the Christmas period. The issues have been acknowledged on Major Nelson's blog, the Xbox Live team's avenue for communicating Live-related news and developments.

Based on comments on the blog post, the problems appear to be affecting users in the US, the UK, Australia and Canada, and are presumably service-wide. The issues, which began around December 22 and are yet to be entirely resolved, include difficulty logging in, downloading updates and demos, playing multiplayer matches and accessing statistics.

According to Major Nelson's blog post, the Xbox Live team is working as hard as it can to resolve the issues, and 'no one on the team is going anywhere until the job is done'.

Still out of service. I can get one game of CoD4 an hour if I am willing to keep hitting retry everytime it says "game lobby closed" or " couldn't join game in progress", halo 3 is unplayable, GHIII won't go online either.

Been forced to play the single player campaigns of CoD 4 on veteran and I am stuck down the first flight of stairs on "no fighting in the war room" I watched a youtube video if a guy "supposedly" doing it and all I can say is his Russians on veteran are far worse shots then mine.

I can actually get all the way to the round launch silos but the lack of checkpoints means one stray bullet has me back to those stairs. God oh God why didn't they give me smoke grenades? I could stroll through that level if I couldn't see it.

anyway hope to see you all online again soon. It's AWESOME how many AUS clan tags I see on CoD4 Go Aussie!

The trick on veteran for that level is time. You will get a checkpoint at the end of the tunnel is you make it by a certain amount of time (I was having the same problem as you). What you need to do is keep moving forward very quickly. It's hard, but time is the key. There are 3 ways to go so either head left or right. Don't go down the middle section. Let your squad do that. The enemies are always in the same place so learn where they are and hammer them as you keep going.

I also recommend that you use the shotgun and don't be afraid to use flashes and grenades, they save a lot of time

I also had this problem, but after using more grenades and speeding up the process in a few other ways it became A LOT easier, but still don't expect to pull it off first try.

My problems here have seemed to go away for now, I'm betting this weekend will be bad again.

my problems went away after i had finally recovered my gamertag a week ago after 6 hours of constant attempts. I wasn't up to date and thought they had fixed all the problems. So i go and recover my account on another console-only to have it fail. I go back to my console and try and recover; after a few failed attempts it decided to tell me my account doesn't exist on xbox live - wtf?

Edit: Yay my account exists on xbox live now! but it still fails to recover my account
