GoldenEye: Rogue Agent Details

Xbox News | New information on EA's next installment in the James Bond franchise.
With the success of Electronics Arts’ Everything or Nothing and Nightfire, most people pretty much expected that they’d have another Bond game up their sleeves. It was a shock to most fans of the franchise when EA revealed their next Bond game would be titled GoldenEye: Rogue Agent. Here’s fresh news on the game.

In GoldenEye: Rogue Agent you will play as an aspiring 00 agent dismissed from M16 for reckless brutality. You are hired as an enforcer by Auric Goldfinger, the wealthy super-villain with a lust for all things gold. Goldfinger is locked in a ruthless war against his archenemy, Dr. No. The prize is control of the world's greatest criminal organisation. A brutal encounter with Dr. No costs you an eye, but Goldfinger's technicians replace it with a gold-hued, synthetic eye, earning the you the name 'GoldenEye'. You will have the ability to customise and upgrade your villain persona and wreak havoc as you make your unrelenting rise through the ranks.

In an interesting change to the Bond franchise, your goal is to rule the world rather than save it. Legendary allies and enemies such as Oddjob, Scaramanga, Xenia Onatopp, and, of course, Pussy Galore will make an appearance on globe-spanning missions of vengeance and demolition. The game will feature famous and original Bond locations. From the mountains of Switzerland to the streets of Hong Kong and from Fort Knox to Dr. No's Crab Key lair in the Caribbean. Enemies will react intelligently in combat situations and use the environment to their advantage for intense and unpredictable shootouts.

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent will feature single-player, multiplayer split-screen, and online gameplay for the PS2. Whether or not online capabilities will be available for the Xbox is unknown, as EA’s relationship with Microsoft in regards to the Xbox Live service is currently sketchy.

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent is scheduled to ship later this year on the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube. More information will most likely be revealed at E3. PALGN will have it as it breaks.

I could wipe my arse with a piece of paper and you'd have a better premise for a videogame than this.

One day, EA's license to print money will be revoked (ha, Bond reference right there icon_wink.gif) when people realise that they're either buying the same **** over and over, or buying **** that isn't fit for market to begin with icon_smile.gif

Cool! icon_lol_old.gif

Seriously, i can't make up my mind on this game. The premise of playing as the bad guy(s) is interesting, but in a Bond game/movie, doesn't Bond usually save the day and get the girl? E3 will reveil all then.

Sounds ok, but will it be as good as the original GoldenEye gameplay? As for the story, who wants to play a Bond game where you're not Bond, that was the only bad thing about Perfect Dark in my opinion, the fact that you weren't Bond, but hey, it could be ok i suppose, the multiplayer might be good. icon_confused.gif

Surely not that bad? icon_smile.gif

Whether this game rises or falls for me will probably heavily depend on the quality of its multiplayer mode. We'll see, but I'm not really expecting anything really special from this... icon_kero.gif

So far, no console FPS has come close to Perfect Dark (Except Halo possibly) multiplayer. Particually from any of the Bond crap that comes from EA.
