Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory website goes live

Xbox News | Sam has a new website for his latest sneaking adventure.
Ubisoft have launched a new website in the anticipation of the upcoming title Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. The new site describes the story and gives glimpses into new gameplay elements and characters. New screens and videos show off the impressive new engine and also included is a stylish flash interactive demonstration, showing the new features the game.

The story for Chaos Theory takes place in the year 2007, following troubles between Japan, Korea and China. Once again Third Echelon is called in using the services of our friend Sam Fisher. As always, the game looks to have a large set of characters, which no doubt will have bearings throughout the game.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is currently slated for Xbox, GameCube, and PlayStation 2 in March 2005. So head over to the official site and stay tuned to PALGN for more information has it comes to hand.

i should be a news writer for this site, you would get stories up so much faster.

But would the quality be the same?

Why don't you apply and see what Crusen thinks of you before you start bagging our writers.

All I can say is, TransgenicX you certain have a way with words.

Its interesting to note that on the site that they have a skeleton tournament leader boards similar to bungie.net. Should be interesting when SC3 launches...

So leave it to the people who do have 'it'.

Nice to see it coming along, this is certainly a game I'm looking forward to. icon_smile.gif

Good point, didn't notice that. icon_lol.gif

On reading the article: March? Great. Not only will I be swamped with the UK release of NDS games, but this too. icon_razz.gif

Now I thought I would write something about this after reading the deluge of hacked demo spoilers by certain people, I won’t mention any particular sites but you know who you are.

To start off I must say I am sick of it, I personally do not want to see my most anticipated game ruined because net nerds with to much time on their hands get a boner off ruining other peoples fun.

What you need to ask yourself is, Do I really want to see these spoilers?, Do I really want to spend 50-100 dollars on the game then say at a key storyline point “meh I’ve seen this crap already”?

Now the majority of the people that visit the site that is the main perpetrator of this are fans of the series that have been loyal from the beginning and are really waiting for Re4 and I am sure there are a lot of angry fans out there that don’t like to go to this site and be smacked in the face with a 2 line spoiler warning that doesn’t even give a gap to where the spoiler is actually written, not to be over dramatic here or anything but what is the world coming to when a man (or woman for that matter) can’t go to a site with having big parts of a tightly kept secret ruined? It’s just not right.

As for what I want, I want you the reader to speak out against this or email me and tell me what you think so I can pass it on and try and get something done about this annoying occurance.

I wrote that editorial and its more then 50 words.

That's possibly one of the shortest and most formal editorials I've ever read.

^ I agree

I got across what i wanted to say, so there was no need to write anymore, its still over 50 words.

And that's exactly why your site will never go pro.

Lets hope EA don't keep consuming UbiSoft. I don't want to be hearing some teen angst crap blasting out on EA Trax whilst cracking someone's neck.

Ok I want to say something now icon_razz.gif

I used to work at a large site and I was the news and affiliates manager and I think we had a different outlook on our news.
Basically this is a site based around forums, meaning this is a comunity which is mainly directed at the general public who enjoy video games.

Then shouldn't writers be anyone in the community? Im sure everyone would love to contribute at there level and it seems a little discrimative to only allow more experienced writers to be in charge, Im not saying all the experienced writers should stop, because you guys make the 'eliete' articles but shouldnt people like TransgenicX be aloud to be writers to even if they dont have as much experience? Theres really only one way to learn.

And I dont think every article has to be formal and long to be a pleasure to read, most of the time short colloquial pieces can be informative and well composed.

^ PALGN was initially established with that design. That was in fact my "vision" for the site - a gaming site where anyone could publish articles. Not long after launch people complained it was nothing more than a portal and there were only a few (badly written) articles that published.

A general consensus was reached that it would be better for us to relaunch with a more traditional structure. We did and the site is as you see it now. We actually have a huge number of readers who are not part of community. We recieve around 1500 visitors each day and only some 200-300 of those actually log in. We still have a community focus, but we produce enough decent PAL specific content that people come just to read the articles and not participate at all in the community.

Basically the “community” design just doesn’t work. You end up with nothing more than a highly moderated forum.

On that note however it would be interesting if we DID actually have a forum specifically where people could post “articles” in the style used in a gaming site.

Do i want it to go "pro"? no, its just a fan site, i never had any thoughts of making it "pro", plus i cant make it "pro" because it isnt an official capcom site.
If i wanted to write a long boring editorial that no one would read i would have but i wanted to get my point across quickly and concisely which i did and got good feedback about it, so what you think is irrelevant.

I can understand where your coming from, but I spose thats really what the gaming forum is used for also?

Plus I know how annoying it can be verifiying several news articles a day icon_razz.gif

Nice to see what you think of readers of your site.

50 words for a quick news article is fine. For example, Feel The Magic XY/XX changing it's European name doesn't need a thousand-word masterpiece. But when you're writing a rant, or another article like it, you don't judge it by whether it's over 50 words or not.
You are the one who judged it on its length not me.

Also when my site gets 2-4 thousand hits a day what one guy thinks of it doesnt really matter, while its good you visit, whether or not you think its professional or not really has no impact, i wont lose sleep over it.
The problem is that you trolled these forums, you said you could write the article faster and we said that we had better quality.

Seriously we don't care how good your site is as we have a good community here, our writers put in a great effort to contribute to the website.
I meant faster like getting the news story up on the day the website went up not a week later.
Do you think we really care about that though?

Most of our good members can find out about this through other sites anyways, PalGN does a heck of an effort to begin with, great comps. to try and get more activity, well written articles that take time to write etc.
