Each event goes from 6pm-10pm. You must be at least 18 to register. The non-public events are still in the early stages of planning, but may be opened to everyone once the retailers have all registered.

The events will allow participants to see and play some of upcoming software from various publishers, including EA and Activision, Ubisoft, Vivendi Universal, THQ. All attendees will also receive an Xbox Gift Pack and an exclusive sneak peak at the Xbox 360.

People interested in registering can do so by calling 1800 233 033. Each venue has limited places, so first in, first served.

I guess this is the exclusive Australia is getting in return for a late 360 launch. Yay? icon_dumb.gif

Adelaide, Fremantle, Hobart... umm... how about Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with those locations, except a lot more people could go to it, if it wasn't just in WA and Tasmania.

Why the hell would they choose 3 of the worst cities in the country?

I'd be jealous... if I hadn't read that one of the "featured" publishers was EA! icon_razz.gif

I wouldn't say "worst", but that was certainly an odd move. I would have at least expected Sydney to get a taste. Anyway for anybody lucky enough to go, have fun!

lol, hobart! there will be like only -5 people attending

I still can't comprehend this choice of cities!

Ahhh I knew it was a little wierd. Looks like we jumped the gun on this one before it was all offically announced. I've updated the list with all the locations. I'm not sure which are over 18 and which aren't.

Wow! Home night club. I'll definitely be going to that.

That's more like it! I'm so totally there. Any idea what those 'gift packs' are full of?

(note the deliberate phrasing of that last sentence)

Just a t-shirt AFAIK icon_sad.gif

i really wouldnt say that Freo(Perth) or Hobart or Adelaide are the three worst cities in the country, maybe the worst for huge companies to advertise (by touring) in, but...

A recent poll in England, according to a britsh journalist writing for the West Australian, 1/3 of working British peoples would prefer to live in Perth WA then any other city in the world including their own,

So us country bumpkins over here can't be all that bad can we?

Thanks for the correction, James. I received the information earier (last night infact) and that's all I received...

Edit: Actually it seems that most of the other locations (VIC, NSW & QLD) are pretty much filled up and the point of having the other locations was to get those locations recognised so numbers would fill.

So, from what i've been told, if you want to get into any of the new locations included you'd have to sign up quick or you wont get a place at all.

Fremantle only has one "e"

some hippy took the other one...

Well I'll be, something is coming to Canberra! I am so going to it, especially if I get to see the next console that I will be purchasing. icon_smile.gif

Oh, on a random note a lot of things seem to be coming here lately. Not that I am complaining, it is about time.

If I can organise things between my two jobs (and am able to get a booking), I'll be attending the Hobart one thanks to working in Kmarts Sound and Vision department.

Fingers crossed

Just talking to the local xbox rep, and he's telling me it's NOT for the public, just for retailers. Interesting...

Ok I finally managed to speak to someone at Microsoft. It seems half the events are public and half are not. The non-public ones may be opened up for everyone closer to when they occur. Details are in the article.

Are you able to get in on behalf of PALGN though James?

I'm not sure if I could be bothered going along, especially with such a hassle to try and get in (for the Sydney event).
I probably could if I pushed (or at least get in through one of my retail contacts), but I don't expect it'll be that exciting. If it's specifically open to the public / media I'll go, but otherwise I'm not that bothered. I doubt there will be anything I haven't seen before - it seems to be more aimed at informing retailers.

Disappointment plus! Ah well, I cannot attend. That is fine, it will just mean the day when I purchase my 360 will be even more exciting. Nothing wrong with that. icon_wink.gif

I called the other day shortly after reading this post and after an innitial pause when I told the girl on the other end of the phone line that I wasn't from ANY shop she took my details and said all was gooD! So come six tonight I'll be at Church (ADELAIDE) to see what's on offer. I guess I'll post my impressions here tomorrow if anyone's interested, or even if they're not.

for all of those wanting to know what to expect/missed out on!

Nice write up! It sounded okay... the no show of next gen games was a bit ****, but to be expected.

As for the 'unveiling'. It sounded like a bit of a let down. I mean, it was just the console. No controller. No games. At least you didn't have to pay anything, because that didn't really seem to be worth the entry fee...

At least you got a cool looking necklace. icon_smile.gif

mojo x seemed to sum up the proceedings rather nicely - the highlight for me though was hearing a "pimped up X Box girl" refer to the system as an 'ecks boc' I guess thats the sigular of ecks bocs.

And king kong rocked indeed - really ciematic gaming - the Ubisoft girls (though not as pimped up as the ecks boc chicks) were friendly and really knew what they were talking about.

Also ther is now no doubt in my mind that Shadow the hedgehog sucks.
Ah yes, the "eggs bok". Sounded more like an oriental dish then a console.

Most fun game there was definately Hulk. Shadow was, as the electroplankton said, completely atrocious. Level design was, while not quite as bad as heroes, still nowhere near as good as even sonic adventure 2. The controls were floaty, and the camera... jesus sega, fix it already.

The competition to win a 360 was.. uh, not great for those of us not quick on your feet. You had 30 seconds to "sell" the 360 to the crowd, so you had to be funny and informed. The wrong person won, IMO - although he's only getting his 360 a week before the australian launch.

So, if you're going to one of the other roadshows, think about what you'll say, as the competition will probably be the same.

Still can't believe there was no game footage AT ALL. I mean, there's been stuff on the net for months now.

Oh, and the guy representing Ubisoft really was from Ubisoft. He demoed a bit of two thrones, and it looked half decent. More acrobatics then warrior within, thank goodness. I was tempted to make an EA takeover joke, but that wouldn't have been fair on the poor guy.

Oh, and you get a drink voucher with entry, but only one.
